Had Hoped:

I fell in love,
It was stupid move,
I knew it from the start,
He could never change,
But still I hoped
When he became everything
I knew I’d went too far
I should have stopped
It would never work
But still I hoped
There will never be another
I am fine with that
He was a unique flaw in my life
I don't think it's possible to move on
I have accepted that,
Maybe down the road he'll change
I still have hope
Because there was never anyone else
No one made my heart sing.
No one made me smile.
No one made my breath hitch
It was always him,
To deny it would be pointless
But he has ran out of forgiveness
And words no longer mean what they use to
Though my heart sings,
My breath races and my smiles are unavoidable
Around him I am alive
He will never change
He could never relate
Always preferred pushing me away
I could tell when we were getting close
He’d put that smirk on
And say good day
He will always be the one who paid attention.
Can I be okay with that?
I have yet to figure out,
But hear he has hope.

  1. very nice. quick and to the point. love it. thanks for sharing...

    1. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment, I am so glad you liked it.

  2. Enjoyed the poem. Maybe he will change in twenty years or so? But so will you

  3. Hi, it does sound a little hopeless, bless your heart. Maybe you would need to cut him loose for a while and see how long it takes for him to realize what he is losing. :)
    Best regards to you. Ruby

    1. Aw thank you so much for your kind words. And I have let him go, though it was hard; so incredibly hard. To me it was like I was living in one of the Bronte sisters' novels.
